Though many waters

Koorong had a booksale and I switched allegiance from Kingston library to the town library, so armed with numerous books I began a relaxing weekend of housework, cricket watching and reading, all the while anticipating that the upcoming week at work was going to be a busy one of finishing my stats records and file notes and tying up loose ends in preparation for my leave from 1 Feb - 15 Feb, the last week of the school holidays. My plans were to spring clean and spend some happy times with my PS, so I planned to work really hard and was a bit annoyed that the 26th was a public holiday, and I would have to squash all my work into 4 days!
On friday night I finished reading Through many Waters by Lyn Austin - themed around Psalm 46. It was very apt because of the floods on the Mainland, but also the Psalm had been popping up all week, in my daily reading plan, my diary, the discussion forum I butt in on... It was starting to get my attention.
Anyway, Sunday 23 January, I was ready by the afternoon to lie on the couch, read and watch cricket. The DH abd PS were content with their own stuff and I was alone. The only thing bothering me was the typical tenderness in the chest area, common to women at certain times of the month. Actually it was a bit more intense than usual, so I administered a quick rub only to feel a massive lump in my left breast whoa! that wasn't there before! Hot then cold sort of tidal wave moved through me. Deep breaths and " don't panic it's clearly just a cyst - nothing comes up this fast" very quick prayer asking "what do I do?" more deep breaths.
OK decided to say nothing to DH until after my monday morning shower, and call my doctor asap on monday and ask for an earlier appointment than the one already in place for 27th (the next phase in the treatment of my Chronic Asthma) and I got on very serenely with the afternoon and evening. Didn't make it to church, but had a lovely session with the young PS, a hug and a few words from the older PS and a surprisingly good sleep, holding the warm strong hand of my DH.

Psalm 46
  1. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
  2. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
  3. Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
  4. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
  5. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
  6. The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
  7. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
  8. Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth.
  9. He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.
  10. Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
  11. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
