Monday, Monday...

so rushed and frantic. No serenity there, and the lump still there.

Off to work for an hour then to the airport to meet DH and our friends P and J and girls who were flying to start a new life in Canberra.( Dave and I have been saying goodbye to friends off and on all through our life together it seems).

The doctor phoned back as I was leaving and on hearing my news immediately told me to come in at 12.30 (anyone living in Tassie knows this is a miracle, and surely an extreme kindness in that this man was no doublt giving me his lunch 1/2 hour).

At the airport things were a bit stressed and the girls and P were trying J's patience to the limit, but once we'd got through the check in, and were seated for some coffee and a chat, I was thanked for bringing some calm to the situation. Ah Serenity reared her noble head, but it was a 2 - way thing as I too was calmed by holding little girl hands, sharing muffin crumbs and chatting with friends.

Once they left, I told DH what was on my chest. While it stopped him in his tracks, he put his strong arm around me and hugged me. I'm sorry I said but I wanted you to know before I see the doctor... you did right he said and squeezed my hand.

Later at the doctor ( a very kind man provided by God I believe, who has been with us since our 4th day in Hobart) I was met with his serious face, and I felt I just had to set his mind at rest, as he was clearly worried. I'm sure it's a cyst I said, but he was having none of my serenity and had me up on his bed topless in a matter of minutes.

Once examined and re-dressed he started organising the referral to Woman's Imaging. He proposed to either charm or bully them into giving me an appointment asap (the public holiday was a problem). I was a mite disappointed that they succumbed to his charm completely as I would have enjoyed seeing this gentle man bully someone, and my appointment was made for Friday 28th at 12.30.

A descriptor of the lump and it's location had to be included in the faxed referral. "About 3cm, close to the nipple, at 3 O'clock? " he said.

"more like half past 2" I said.
