Beauty draws us with a single hair: Alexander Pope
There's many a man has more hair than wit: William Shakespeare
Forget not that the earth delights to feel your feet and the wind longs to play with your hair: Kahlil Gibran
The beauty of a woman is not in....the way she combs her hair: Audrey Hepburn
It's foolish to tear one's hair in grief, as though sorrow would be made less by baldness: Marcus Tullius Cicero
I don't consider myself bald. I'm just taller than my hair: Lucius Annaneus Seneca
I'm undaunted in my quest to amuse myself by constantly changing my hair: Hilary Clinton
When a woman isn't beautiful, people always say, you have lovely eyes, you have lovely hair: Chekov
You know us crazy kids, we'll do anything to our crazy hair: Ryan Gosling
Day 16, and punctual as the rest of me, my hair has started to fall off. I've been feeling a prickling in my scalp for the last couple of days, obviously a portent of things to go!
Knowing that God knows the number of my hairs, I'm not counting as they fall.
I hope you all have enjoyed the amusing, poignant or beautiful quotes, which have been my way of "colouring and highlighting" my hair, without going too crazy. My favourite is "Beauty draws us with a single hair." However, I might just do something bright later today after work ... bowing to peer pressure!
Along the way to growing my hair back, I plan to have a Crazy Hair Sausage Sizzle to raise funds for the Jane McGrath Foundation. This fund provides the Breast Nurses here in Australia. I have benefitted so much from this service, and feel keenly the lack that women in rural areas suffer - a lack addressed by the Breast Nurses. I hope many will join me in this. I will let you know when it will occur.
Now when I am bald, I promise you that I will not be as seriously grumpy as Elisha in the story that follows; but then, I won't be healing the water supply and bringing health and industry back to the city: (2 Kings 2: 19 -27)
And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.
And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.
And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.
So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake
And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head
And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.
And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.
Hoping you all have a great hair (or head) day!
